TEN Go-to Healthy Meals

Ok, so one of the hardest things about being healthy is eating well. This is especially true for you mamas, because not only do you have to find something that will not send you soaring over your daily calorie count but also will keep the other members of your family from making faces… including the littles.

As things go, there is a lot to be said for not trying to please everyone at the dinner table, but everyone is always a little more cheerful when they’ve been fed something they enjoy and mom is always happier when she doesn’t have to argue about having baked chicken again.

Disclaimer: A LOT of these recipes are from Skinnytaste... and that’s because I LOVE her recipes! I am yet to have a single one that I didn’t absolutely love and have everyone rave about (and in my house my parents are also living with us right now, so that’s four happy adults!). I did try to mix it up a little bit with some of my other go-tos but to be honest the past few months I have been almost exclusively using Skinnytaste since the recipes have been so good and most of them are super easy.

So here are my TEN go-to healthy recipes, which is probably enough for at least two weeks of meal planning (assuming leftovers and/or eating out a few times).

Good for the Body – Motivation Monday

There is hardly a quote I can think of that better sums up the balance of physical and spiritual wellness and how dependent they are on each other. When I neglect one or the other, I feel it big time, but when I neglect both… that’s when I find myself in a bad place. I find myself slipping more easily into sin, I’m more quickly dragged back to bad habits, I feel down and I know that when I am in that kind of place myself, it affects my family as well. I am a better mom, a better wife, a better friend, and a better Christ follower when I take care of myself physically AND spiritually.

Happy Monday, loves!

PS: Shout out to my sweet baby who turns ONE today!! Yikes!

Top 10 Christian Songs for Working Out

Why is it so hard to find songs that are fun to work out to but aren’t totally inundated with curse words and/or vulgar messages? Sometimes it just get old. And it’s not just your little one’s ears you need to worry about! The Bible instructs us to guard our eyes, ears, and hearts.

Oh be careful little ears what you hear….

That being said, here

is a top 10 list of my favorite Christian songs to workout to; admittedly a little heavy on the Christian rap, so forgive me. I’d love to hear any other suggestions in the comments! I know I’m always in need of some new additions to my workout playlist… and let’s be real, I use the same playlist for cleaning the house. It’s that good… and Lord knows I need the motivation. Ugh, cleaning.

My Fitness Testimony

Hi, all! In an effort to be transparent and (hopefully) a tiny bit motivational as well, I’m going to be doing a monthly weigh-in on the first Wednesday of every month. My plan is to give an update not only of my weight, but also to check in on how I have been doing with my eating, workouts, and my spiritual discipline. There is nothing like accountability to others to keep you from slacking; this is something I learned when training for a 5k. So here is my story; my “fitness” testimony, if you will.

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m going to talk about something that I really do not enjoy: running. Earlier this year a friend of mine from work and I decided to train for a 5k. This was all well and good, but the entire time I hated it. Really hated it. The good news is that I think I’ve figured out why, and have some good tips on what to do if you are crazy inspired to start your own running program.

Workout Wednesday – 11/23/16

Let’s be real.. some days you just don’t have time to do any type of elaborate workout… I know I don’t. With my job, I wake up around 5 (and Lord knows I can’t get up any earlier), and I get home in time to have about an hour with my baby before I put him down to bed. So basically, I need something to burn some calories within the half hour between putting baby down and passing out myself. Here is a workout that I have done in the past that is quick, easy, and effective.

Oh, also, tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so… there’s that too. Hah…

Motivation Monday – 11/21/2016

Happy Monday! Ok let’s be real, I hate Mondays, even on a short week like this one (yay, Thanksgiving!), and I could really use something to make me feel good, get me ready for the week, and remind me that God will get me through whatever the coming days hold for me. Chin up, chest out! It’s gonna be a good week! -K

You’re not a bad mom

This post is dedicated to the moms who played Plants vs Zombies last night for an hour after the baby went to sleep instead of finishing her Bible study because her brain needed a vacation. To the mom who let her baby chew on the pacifier he dropped on the floor of the restaurant just so she could maybe get a bite of her food in before he started demanding to be let out of the high chair. To the mom who is praying her baby will take like a 4 hour nap so she can maybe get some work done. So basically… to me, and other moms like me. I know you’re out there… I can’t be alone in this.
